Senior Director for Academic Leadership

Peter A. Facione, Ph.D., is former Provost at Loyola University Chicago and a Senior Scholar with the National Center for Science and Civic Engagement. A philosopher, he earned his Ph.D. at Michigan State, chaired the Department of Philosophy at Bowling Green State University, and served as Dean of the School of Human Development and Community Service at California State University, Fullerton before joining Santa Clara University in 1990. At Santa Clara, he was Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for 12 years. His scholarly interests center on critical thinking, decision-making, and leadership. He has served as president of the American Conference of Academic Deans and is CEO of California Academic Press LLC.
