Michael R. Stevenson, Ph.D. was appointed Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Northern Arizona University in 2007 after serving the Miami University and Ball State University communities for over 20 years. A fellow of the American Psychological Association, he has also served as a Fulbright Sr. Scholar, a Sr. Congressional Fellow, a Malone Fellow, and an American Council on Education Fellow. Trained in Developmental Psychology at Purdue University, his scholarly work has consistently appeared in a wide variety of books, interdisciplinary periodicals, and psychology journals.
He has offered lectures, workshops, and seminars for professional and lay audiences in Asia, Canada, the Middle East, South Africa, and across the United States. Co-edited with Jeanine C. Cogan, his fourth book, Everyday Activism: A Handbook for Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual People and their Allies, was published in 2003. His current work focuses on diversity policy in higher education and the application of research findings in the development of public policy. He was recently named the founding editor of The Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, a joint venture of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education and the American Psychological Association.
